What is a wig cap?

A wig cap is necessary when you’re wearing wigs, especially if you have long hair. A wig cap (sometimes called a silicone wig cap) will make your wig fit better, feel more comfortable, and help prevent tangling and matting of your hair while it’s under your wig.

If you have long hair, it can be more difficult than usual to get your wig cap in place. Before putting your wig cap on, braid sections of your hair and tie them up underneath your headwrap or scarf. The hair tucked under will then be out of sight and won’t get caught in or interfere with your wig cap.

How to Put on a Wig Cap with Long Hair – A Few Steps to Follow

Follow these steps:

Clean and brush your hair

The first step of putting on a wig cap is to make sure your hair is clean and combed through. If you don’t want strands of hair sticking out from under your wig, start by clipping up any stray hairs. Next, use a blow dryer and brush (separately) to smooth out your hair as much as possible.

This will ensure that your wig will stay securely in place throughout an event or day of shopping. Once you’ve brushed through all of your hair, put it up into an easy-to-wear hairstyle—think low buns, braids or ponytails for long hair—and finish off with some gentle hairspray if necessary.

Braid your hair

The next step is to braid your hair. Secure it in place with an elastic band and make sure that it looks neat and presentable. Now, take off your wig cap. If you’re wearing a wig cap that has lace along its edges, be sure to remove it; you’ll want as much of your own hair showing as possible when you put on the wig, especially if you’re planning on using tape or glue for additional security (which we recommend).

If you have shorter hair and are worried about creating bulk where there aren’t any roots, use bobby pins to secure those areas before covering them up completely.

Wrap your braids

Finally, secure those braids at their ends so they don’t get caught under your wig cap. This can be done by simply wrapping them in hairpins or half-dollars. Keep in mind that you may want to remove any bobby pins after you finish putting on your wig because these will just stick out from underneath it and get it tangled.

Just make sure you use pins that won’t snag in your hair because they could be hard to remove later!

For best results, use strong bobby pins like bamboo skewers or even sewing needles which come in many colors and sizes! Once you have secured all of them with bobby pins, take one last look before getting ready for cosplay.

Put on your wig cap

Getting your wig cap over your hair can be trickier if you have longer tresses. But if you follow these steps, you can put your wig cap on without any trouble at all. You’ll feel more confident and secure knowing that there is one less thing holding you back from having fun with friends or going about your day-to-day life. There’s no need to fret about feeling like a hot mess when wearing your wig—with these simple steps, everything will stay in place and look great!

It’s time to put on your beautiful wig and then style it fabulously. You can use bobby pins (must match the color of your wig) or like wig tape to secure your wig further.

How to Put on a Wig Cap with Long Hair – Some Extra Tips

The first thing you want to do is ensure that your hair isn’t wet. If it is, give it some time to dry out – but not too much time; if you leave wet hair in for too long and then try putting on a wig cap, chances are high that nothing will fit right!

Another tip for getting things right: use an absorbent towel or paper towels before putting anything else in or around your hairline. This can be especially important if you have oily skin or tend towards breakouts of any kind – they can cause wigs and other accessories to slip around at best, and be impossible to wear at worst. Once everything is dry and prepared, it’s time to get dressed!
